RE: Branson's Ozark Country

We stayed there for a month last fall and then again for two months this spring while house hunting in the area. Jim and Linda are very nice people. The pool has recently been repaired and spruced up. The laundry room and showers/restrooms were always clean. There are many books available for swapping.
It would be nice if the sites were a little larger, but they aren't right on top of each other either. It's quiet and in a convenient location. They have cable and wifi. Sometimes they have live music. You won't regret your choice to stay there.

RE: Fort Stevens State Park, OR ~ best campsite?

I believe we stayed in M50 in June, 2007. The mosquitoes were horrible at that time. This site was laid out a little differently from most. In the back were steps up to another level where the fire pit was. I think this gave us more room than some of the other sites had.

RE: packing a roadtrip grill

I know this was not your question, but I thought I would share this. DH found that it was easier to clean the drip pan if he filled it with soapy water before cooking.

I also would skip the fondue at Medora. It wasn't very good, but the musical was worth seeing.

RE: Computer Problem - please help. UPDATED - REUPDATED

I'm no computer expert by any means, but I think I had the same thing you have. I didn't even click on the popup to install. I only tried to close it. I was running AVG Free but paid for the full version when this happened. It got rid of the problem for me. Good luck! Toni

RE: Branson, Mo.

For anyone looking for a show--we saw Clay Cooper about a month ago and really enjoyed his show. He's on the strip across from Wal Mart.
Ozark Country CG is on 165 between Branson and the dam and a good place to stay. The folks are friendly, and it's in a good location. It's a Passport America cg.
We've been at Branson for about two months now (in the process of buying a house in the area). We are from south MS and LA and really miss our favorite restaurants back home. We are not finding any outstanding restaurants. The food is ok in most places but nothing that will keep us going back.

RE: Scotty Pup gnawing hair off of legs.

Our Westie had a similar problem, and our vet in Slidell referred us to a dermatologist in Metairie (I noticed you were from Gretna). Besides having food allergies, Maggie is allergic to grass, trees, fleas, cats, etc. I don't remember the doctor's name since it has been a couple of years, and we no longer live in the area so I don't have a phone book to look it up for you. I believe the clinic was called Veterinary Specialists or Specialties, and it was on S. Causeway Blvd. As I'm sitting here typing this I remembered the drs. name. I think it was Steven LeMarie. Toni

RE: Full Timing Mail Question from Non-Full Timer

We've never had a cg turn us down when we ask if we can have our mail forwarded to us there. I also confirm the mailing address and don't rely on websites. Sometimes the street address is not the mailing address. We also use the flat rate envelopes mentioned above.
We try to allow about 2 weeks for delivery.
The only problem we've ever had is that one time the mail did not make it before we left. Someone in the office kept my phone number and called me when it came in and then forwarded it to me. Normally it takes between 4 days and a week to reach us, but that time it was almost a month.

RE: Filling Prescriptions on the road

We use Walgreens. You can access your prescriptions online, make your order, choose the store where you want to pick them up, and select the date and time for pick-up. I think it's much easier to do it online than to punch in all those numbers over the phone. Toni

RE: Reservations for My Rushmore area - 4th of July?

The only thing we had to have reservations for other than the cg was Jewel Cave and that was during Bike Week. Our other trip to that area was in the fall after all the kids were back in school so there were no crowds.
Make sure you visit the Mammoth Site at Hot Springs.

RE: Branson RV Parks

Will you have kids with you? Are there certain things you would like to be closer to?
We like Ozark Country CG. It's a PA park, free wifi and cable. There is a pool and a very small playground area. Most sites have shade which you will need in August. The sites are not as large as I would like, but I've been in places where they are smaller.
We also like Table Rock State Park CG #2. It has more of an outdoorsy cg feel to it. I like smelling the campfires. There are some fhu sites.
We've never stayed in any of the parks you listed, but I have seen them driving by. Stagecoach is near the state park. Compton Ridge and Acorn Acres will put you closer to Silver Dollar City.

RE: Need help finding a campground in LA or MS????

The rest area they are talking about is on I-10 at mm2.
We overnighted at Parkers Landing just off I-10 near Biloxi--exit 41. It's convenient for an easy on and off.

RE: Camping Cost?

We are at Ozark Country CG in Branson, MO. It's $330 per month with water, electric, sewer, wifi and cable. There is a nice, clean laundry room, a large library/book swap and a pool.

RE: Storing winter clothes

We have some winter things in air bags under the bed. I've had a problem with them getting ripped when raising the bed to get other things out. At Bed Bath and Beyond I saw air bags made of canvas or something similar but didn't buy one. I wish I had.

RE: Dumping Gray Water on the Ground

We stayed in a cg where the owner wanted the gray water to water his trees. He even supplied us with a garden hose to use. We left it hooked up, the water drained out as we used it, and there was never a puddle.

RE: Texas to Branson

I can't help with your plans along the way, but I will recommend a show for you to see. We saw Clay Cooper about 2 weeks ago, and it is one of the best shows we've ever seen in Branson. His theater is on the strip across from Wal Mart.
There's a place on the strip near Hwy. 65 that has a billboard that says Half Price Tickets, No Bull, etc. They don't have tickets for the big name shows, but they do have them for many others. You get a voucher there and then go to the theaters to get your tickets.
